‍ Coaching with Andrew Ridley

At H2O Fitness Academy, Andrew Ridley takes an athlete-centred approach to coaching, focusing on individual goals, skill development, and long-term progression. His philosophy is simple: swimming should be challenging, enjoyable, and tailored to each athlete, whether they’re training for competition, open water events, triathlon, or general fitness. Andrew combines structured squad training with personalised programs to ensure every swimmer reaches their full potential.

Andrew Ridley has been coaching athletes in Surf Life Saving, Open Water, Triathlon, Rottnest Channel, and general swim fitness for more than fifteen years.

He has successfully guided numerous athletes through major endurance and open water events — including solo, duo, and team Rottnest Channel Swim crossings — as well as preparing triathletes of all abilities for Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events.

In addition to coaching H2O’s regular squad sessions, Andrew offers a personalised swim coaching service for swimmers who can’t (or prefer not to) train in a squad environment.

His one-on-one programs are designed around the individual needs of each athlete and may include:

  • Detailed stroke assessment and video analysis

  • Threshold and fitness testing

  • A personalised training plan tailored to pool and ocean sessions

  • Ongoing review and progress monitoring

Andrew believes that squad training provides invaluable structure, motivation, and community — but also recognises that flexibility and individuality are key to achieving personal goals.
